Overview
UF Health is the hospital system affiliated with the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Encompassing all aspects of obstetric, neonatal, and subspecialty care, this world-class institution provides specialty and subspecialty services to patients living within the region and traveling from across the globe. We are seeking a perinatal nurse coordinator to facilitate patient and referring provider access to UF Health, provide a supporting, caring rapport with patients, and serve as a liaison in orchestrating care through a multidisciplinary program for the diagnosis and treatment of perinatal complications.
The position will involve contact with patients and their families in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition, this position will support the development of a comprehensive perinatal care program at UF Health. Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team of physicians, allied health providers, and administrative support staff to create and implement quality metrics for these patients.
Organizes and facilitates multidisciplinary case conferences and clinics to assure case materials are assembled, patients scheduled, and appropriate patient follow-up occurs. Assures UF Health laboratory, genetic, and other relevant testing services are coordinated to deliver diagnostic information to conferences and clinics. Collaborates with other members of the patient navigator service, including administrative support staff, to assure coverage of all patient care needs.
Participates in community outreach and education regarding perinatal physicians. Serves as a liaison between internal/referring physicians, other members of the care team, and patients, assuring that patient and family's emotional and support needs are addressed. Appropriate clinical and administrative information is communicated to patients in a timely manner, assuring seamless transitions of patients through the care process across the multiple departments of the UF Health system.
Assists in identifying and recruiting potentially eligible patients into relevant clinical trials and other programs aimed to reduce healthcare disparities and improve patient outcomes.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: RN license with BSN is preferred. Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience with outpatient Women's health/labor and delivery experience or obstetric nursing experience. Women's Health patient experience and patient clinical management preferred.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a non-frequent driver. NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week, or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current RN license in the State of Florida required. Current BLS certification required.
